What is Botox used for?

Botox injections are used for a wide variety of reasons. Most commonly they are used to help reduce wrinkles in the face, but they can also be used to combat excessive sweating. If you have any questions or are ready to set up a free consultation, reach out today.

Am I a good candidate for Botox Injections?

Botox injections are largely used to block certain chemicals signals from nerves. The nerves blocked are predominantly those that cause muscles to contract. Most of our patients seek to reduce the amount of wrinkles on their foreheads and around their eyes with the use of Botox’s muscle relaxation capabilities. Although we can also use botox to help reduce the effects of other conditions. You may be a good candidate for botox injections if you:

  • Are in good health with no allergies to botox injections and have no other pre-existing conditions that may impair recovery from this procedure.
  • Are dissatisfied with the appearance of wrinkles around your forehead or eyes.
  • Have a realistic expectation for the outcome of this procedure.
  • Suffer from excessive sweating and would like to reduce the effects of this condition.

What areas of the face can botox be used on?

Botox injections can be used to reduce wrinkles in a number of areas on the face, including:

  • Forehead wrinkles
  • Frown lines
  • Crow’s feet
  • Marionette lines
  • Under eye lines

 How does Botox work?

Botox smooths wrinkles in the face and alleviates other conditions as well by blocking certain chemical signals from nerves that cause muscle contraction. Botox is used to temporarily relax these muscles, especially those tense muscles in the face that lead to the creation of wrinkles over time.

How long does it take for Botox to start working?

Normally, it only takes a few days for botox injections to take effect. We use a fine needle to inject Bbotox into the affected area. This procedure does not require any anesthesia and the results typically last between three and four months. You can generally expect to see the results of this procedure within a week of the injection.

How safe is Botox?

Overall, botox injections are relatively safe. In fact, very few cases of adverse effects from Bbotox injections have been reported over the years. However, as with any procedure, there is always the chance of experiencing some side-effects as a result. Side-effects and complications that are associated with this procedure include:

  • Bruising, pain, or swelling at the injection site
  • Headache

Dr. Rubis has helped many patients just like you attain a more youthful appearance with the use of Bbotox. We are here to answer and address any concerns you may have about this procedure and help you determine if this procedure is right for you.

What to expect after getting Botox

Generally after you get your Bbotox procedure done, you will need little to no down time. In fact the whole procedure will last around 20 minutes or less. After your procedure, you can resume most normal activities almost immediately. However, to avoid any potential complications we recommend that you do not rub the treated area, avoid strenuous exercise for the following 24 hours, and that you wait at least 4 hours after treatment to lie down. You can expect to see the results of your procedures within a week after your Bbotox treatment, resulting in smoother and more youthful-looking skin.
